Most of the campaigners I saw when asked if they were pleased that it hadn't appeared said yes but noted that it hadn't been announced that it was being discontinued or what the reasons were for this 'change of policy'.
Some may say this has allowed Page 3 to have more public comment than it has for a long time and given more publicity for the online edition behind Murdoch's paywall.
Not a surprise it was just a promotional marketing campaign.
